UDC

Union Parishad is the oldest local government organization in the country. It is the grassroots level people's closest government. The Union Digital Center, the information-technology-based center established by Union Parishad, has given new dimensions to the Council. On November 11, 2010, the Honorable Prime Minister inaugurated the Union Digital Center (UDC) at the Union Union Center (UDC) in all the union parishads across the country through video conferences from its office and from New Zealand's former Prime Minister and Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Miss Helen Clark, Char Kurkrimukhi union of Bhola district. . The main goal of UDC is to make the Union Council a strong organization, so that these institutions can play a vital role in establishing a knowledge-based country by 2021. In addition, these centers can play a promising role in bringing public and private information and services closer to the public, removing technology differences and connecting all citizens with the modern system of information flow.

UDC's journey started in front of the 'people at the service of doorsteps'. With the establishment of UDC, it has been possible to create a free flow of information in every respect of the society and the state system, where people are not going to door to door to serve them, but the service is reaching the doorstep of people at the doorstep of the people. Free flow of information is one of the prerequisites for empowering the public.

With the establishment of Union Digital Center, ordinary citizens are getting easy, low cost and hassle-free 60 public and private services from UDC. Since its inception, nearly 11.5 million services have been provided so far, and UISC entrepreneurs earn five and a half million taka each month by providing the services.

The important government services of UDC are: Landfill, life insurance, payment of rural electricity bill, government forms, results of public examinations, online university admission, online birth-death registration, VGF-VGD list, citizen charter, citizen application, agricultural information, Health advice etc. Private services are: Mobile Banking, Computer Training, Photography, Internet Browsing, Email, Job Information, Compose, British Council English Education, Visa Application and Tracking, Conferencing in Video, Printing, Scanning, Photocopy, Leminating etc.

Some remarkable services are as follows:

Providing computer training is one of the most important services of UISC. This initiative is very important to build a technology based society. At present, 3,773 EDCs are providing low cost computer training using multimedia projectors. From November 2010 to March 2014, about 52 thousand students and youths got computer training from UDC.
In order to reach out to the people of the village, State Insurance Company, Jiban Bima Corporation, started life insurance services in 2,768 UDCs in the country. So far 36 thousand people have taken the service.
To facilitate banking services to deprived grassroots people, mobile banking activities are going on in the country of 436 banks (Dutch Bangla, Trust, One Bank and Bikash) of 23363 UISCs. So far 60 thousand people have taken the service.
To provide services to the doorsteps of the people, the Rural Electrification Board (RBB) has arranged bill for rural electricity through 727 UDC so far.
Telemedicine has been started from 30 Union Digital Centers with the help of Health Directorate to provide health facilities to the doorstep of the deprived people of the rural population. Besides, more than 500 UDC health camps are available.
